Where We Are

Being up in the mountains, the sanctuary can be difficult to find the first time! Here's a few maps and directions to help you find us.

Ballymacarbry (from Melody's Pub) to DAS:

Tramore to Deise Animal Sanctuary:

  1. Go up the Glen Road, all the way to the end of the road (towards Butlerstown). At the end, turn left towards Kilmeaden.
  2. Follow the road through Kilmeaden until you reach the roundabouts. Take the second exit at the first roundabout and the second exit at the second roundabout (the turn off for the railway).
  3. Go past the Suir Valley Railway and take the first left. It's a small country road that's a steep downwards hill. There will be a newly-built thatch house on your right.
  4. Follow that road for miles and miles!
  5. Go straight on at every crossroads - you will eventually come to Clonea Power. This road merges with another, just follow it around, past the church on your right hand side.
  6. Now go straight again, all the way past Rathgormack. All the time the Comeraghs will be to your left. Go over a little bridge (which is a sharp bend). You will notice the road is going up and there are some very old, very tall trees to the left of you.
  7. At the top, the road bends right and after 500m there will be a left turn. It has a brown tourist sign post on it. Go up this - it will lead you over the mountain.
  8. Go past the mobile phone mast on your right, over the cattle grid and all the way down the other side.
  9. At the bottom turn left, go over the small bridge and take the left up a dirt track which has a dead end sign.
  10. Around the hairpin bend and the sanctuary is on the right!
